A bottle of icy vodka makes a dramatic bar decoration when it's encased in a frozen layer of colorful flowers and fruit.

Place a full bottle into a fully opened cardboard half-gallon milk carton. Insert flowers or thinly sliced fruit (we've used nasturtiums, lemons, and limes) around the bottle, filling one third of the carton. Pour water into the container, just covering the fruit and flowers. Place the carton upright in the freezer. When the liquid is completely frozen, add another layer of fruit and very cold water, and freeze. Repeat, filling and freezing a third of the carton at a time, which prevents all the fruit and flowers from floating to the top until the water reaches the bottle's neck. Remove from the freezer when it's time to serve the vodka: Cut away the milk carton with a utility knife; wrap a dinner napkin around the bottle's base, and serve the vodka with slices of lemon zest tied in knots.

Unity Ceremony!!!

so i am a firm believer in the unity ceremony part of a wedding ceremony!! i think it is beautiful and sentimental and meaningful, however i also believe there are so many different and more personal ways to commit your unity with one another then the outdated unity candle that are just as or even more meaningful for each couple!!!

being a single mother of two when i think of my wedding i think of ways that my children could be involved and the unity ceremony is a must!! because not only am i committing to this person but they are committing to me and my boys as well we would be unifying our family as a whole not just as a couple SO here are a few very sweet alternatives i have found!!!

ok so ive heard of sand ceremonies and unity candles but this was completely new and fresh to me and i kinda love it...........
this is called a salt covenant, apparently in ancient times when people would make contracts or promises they would seal it with a salt covenant. each person would take a pinch of salt from their pouch and add it to the other persons. now this deal could not be broken unless the person could retrieve every grain of there own salt.
this is a perfect analogy and representation of the unity of marriage i think! what a great idea!!!


this one is very sweet the bride and groom take dirt from the places where they grew up and plant a small tree together and watch it grow like their marriage....

this is a painting unity ceremony my favorite of all i think its creative and fun and it is family friendly if you are a mixed family with kids that you want to involve in your ceremony this is a wonderful idea each person gets a color and you can hang it in your home......

so i randomly ran across this beautiful idea and thought it was so unique i had never seen anything like it...... lucite...... it is a type of plexiglass it comes in tons of colors it can be cut into shapes and engraved its very neat and pretty...... this was my introduction to lucite....
 beautiful isnt it i love it what a creative way to show people to their tables.....
